Pulling the pin
January 26th, 2010
Daniel Eran Dilger
Finally got the pin pulled out of my hand following my motorcycle accident. It hurt for a bit, no pain killers used, and yes, that is a real doctor using a pair of pliers from Ace Hardware. It was like having a baby out of my hand. More pics on my Facebook.

Do you suppose those pliers were sterilized first? ;-)
Sterilization: free. ACE Hardware Pliers: $2000. Getting your hand an iFixit.com-style teardown: priceless.
Oh for the LOVE OF EFFING GOD. My feet just tried to jump into my lap. I can’t believe you did not scream like a madman at 1:03. [superfluous cursing omitted]
Dan – Do us all a favor and stay off of motorcycles (statistically, somthing like 80-90% of all motorcycle accidents are caused by the other driver)! We have missed your more frequent posts!
Interesting terminology, pulling the pin has two meanings in railroad slang 1. cutting off a car 2. retiring. good luck to you don’t get hurt again
Dan,
Stop with the motorcycles.

dan i thought you were thinking of blogging politics next… not torture porn!
OK, so I was really disappointed. I thought this would be the hand grenade tutorial.
Dan, there was a *reason* God invented morphine, you know…
Get well soon. Looking forward to your analysis of today’s new product.
Dan,
Was that a Google supplied doctor? Dr Googlestein.
Ouch! Just ouch!
Dan, they pulled a pin out of my leg once, but no video unfortunately. I was recovering from a broken leg in a motorcycle accident. Injuries received ultimately led to the loss of cartilage in my ankle, which now has crippled me and will require an artificial joint.
It didn’t hurt too much when they pulled the pin, but the pain in my ankle now, many years later, is excruciating. It’s not something you want if you can help it.
I hope you stay off motorcycles.
ur fucking kidding me – damn the tablet! This is a real punk expressing to the question “does that hurt real bad” a simple “nah -ohhhh – ahhh -0 thx”.
ones gotta love the bike my man! awesome you got that on ‘tape’
New member, here. Did I miss out on you telling us what kind of bike you have (had)? Please tell us about it, or about what new one you’re going to get. Back in the saddle, dude!
If you have the budget, consider a Beemer. I hear the anti-lock brakes are priceless!
