I can't wait to see how the iTablet does! The ergonomics among other issues make me think they may have another Apple TV on their hands.

I also was interested in what you had to say about the Apple TV and Blu Ray during the podcast. I finally bought an HD TV (40" LCD 1080p) and I opted for a Blu Ray player over Apple TV which was the opposite of where I thought I would end up. The main thing for me was picture quality. I don't know what HD TV's they use at the Hartford, CT Apple store but the content looks awful on it, very grainy and iTunes HD content topping out at 720p when I can get 1080i from my cable provider just ain't making it. So I ended up with a Blu Ray player for $125 to take advantage of the capabilities of my TV. It's a little wackier than I would have suspected and I rented a couple of discs that FORCED me too watch previews of other movies which made me nuts but man the movies look good. So I'm doing that and Netflix instead of AppleTV/iTunes until Apple gets it's AppleTV act together.

Funny that you mentioned the Modbook, since the Modbook Wikipedia Page lists as a reference:

 2. McLean, Prince (2007-01-11). "Unofficial Mac tablet draws record crowd at Macworld (high-res photos)". Apple Insider.

I would agree with the other two about annoying ads, but I guess as you say in your talk, that's what pays for it all! I liked what you said, although I thought it was just a summary of all I've read here, however the more that hear the message the better!

That said, I brought a GQ magazine app for the iPhone. It's the latest issue (Jan 2010) and it was [only] $4.19. I can buy the paper version at my local magazine store but it costs around $20, as you said, with the cost of postage, etc, etc.

I for one would be very keen for this new slate thingy if it can give me access to my favourite magazines for a nominal fee.

Thanks again!

Damn, said what I was going to say! Once more we implore you to find a new podcaster to be associated with, I know it'll have been 3 years since you started come January 11 but seriously I won't listen and usually will skip over podcast posts with good reason.

Firstly, I don't know who this Gene Steinberg character is (I think I can imagine why he's not more well known) and cannot give his opinion or podcast any credence but I do know his podcasts are poor quality, fairly low-rent with all the ads and that you're pretty much his only E ticket. Feels almost like you're paying back a favor that should have been settled by now.

Secondly, you can damn well do better. There are plenty of credible Mac oriented podcasts out there with bigger audiences, less ads and better production values you should be courting if only so more people can hear you and your words of wisdom without three breaks for ads.

Yeah, three years I know, hard just to jump off from Gene's ship and head for another one but in some way the short term pain for long term gain is totally worth it.

You were great on the podcast, but I absolutely cannot stand the rest of the show!

"You're listening to The Tech Nite Owl Live: You never know what to expect!" -- Yes I do, a slew of terrible ads! Why would I ever buy any products that this Steinberg fellow is pushing, he certainly does not reek of credibility.

Please, please have your own podcast, or do interviews with someone else!

PS: Is it me, or do they pronounce their own show as the "Tech-Nite Owl Live" instead of "Tech Night-Owl: Live"? It just sounds awkward to me.
