Berend, Gartner's being paid by Microsoft has long been documented. See articles: This one quotes internal Microsoft documents from the Comes case This one quotes a Microsoft internal email about Gartner One of the quotes I loved from this was "Analysts sell out - that's their business model". Full copies of all of the Comes documents can be found at Groklaw and Boycott Novell. While the case was ongoing, the lawyers for the plaintiffs posted them to their website to pressure Microsoft, and part of the settlement was that the website be shut down. Unfortunately for Microsoft, many of us kept copies (heck, they were even available as a torrent on The Pirate Bay). So yes, Daniel is 100% accurate with what he says about Gartner. Sorry for posting twice, first link was broken.
