[...] Will Google’s Android Play DOS to Apple’s iPhone? Myth 6: iPhone Developers will Flock to Android Myth 7: iPhone Buyers will Flock to Android What Might Happen? That leaves Apple an enormous potential for expanding the Mac installed base, potentially leaving it and Microsoft locked in a fight over the huge, if plateauing, PC market.
@Daniel, I just came across this great article! I'm most impressed with the breadth of the content. Just one to mention a couple of things. Google has announced to provide a marketplace similar to itunes store and that as of last week, T-Mobile has accrued 1.5 in presales orders for the G1 Dream phone. Not to bad of a start for predestined roadkill.

[Actually TMobile hasn't done anything near 1.5 million in presales as rumored. HTC only expected to make 200,000 by the end of the year. Also, Google's Android Market is not like iTunes; it's like YouTube, except the files execute without any security measures, so it's a hotbed of viral exploitation waiting to happen.

I don't think Android is "roadkill," but it is certainly has poorly planned components to it (such as security, which has been totally ignored by the ignorant tech media) and lacks the sales arm Apple has to market it (iTunes, retail stores, anything comparable to Mac integration).

Further, the economic climate does not bode well for a brand new platform. It will hurt existing sales a bit (iPhone, BlackBerry), but will be devastating to those that haven't even taken off yet (including Android). Apart from those disastrous black holes of crisis, Android looks fairly okay.]
