For Ou and Dignan to do a copy and paste of lots of vulnerability report hyperlinks into a blog posting, do math on the number of links without even bothering to see if they are active issues or duplicates, ignore the severity or impact of the cited vulnerabilities, ignore the relevance of individual reports to actual users, and ignore the reality that the majority of the spyware, malware, trojans and viruses are designed for Windows users, and then print a headline that claims with authority to represent a true picture of reality: is fraud.
@Rushed:

If you have 1.1.1, the libtiff exploit could be used to attack your iPhone, unless (ironically) you visited the jailbreak site, which "exploits" the hole to enable you to add software, then patches the hole behind itself (!).

So anyone who uses the libtiff hole legitimately is as covered as those who use Apple's 1.1.2 patch.

Saw the video. Read this article. I know that this is now a non-issue with the 1.1.2 patch but I don't get the "Farrow notes in passing..." argument about having ssh pre-installed. IF the web exploit allowed entry into the phone isn't it just as easy for the ssh to be installed along with. Also, the video makes it seem like the phone needs to be tethered to the computer. All I want to know is, with 1.1.1 can I be unknowingly compromised with spyware by WIRELESSLY (WiFi or Edge) surfing a nefarious webpage?

Great article, Daniel. It is really interesting to see what information you gave him and how he used it (very little) in his article. He pulled a "Oh, by the way... the exploit that I've been talking about throughout this article is already patched.. so .. um.. watch for new ones."

Glad to see Daniel taking on the incessant drivel so often spewed from Wired. Glad to see he gets under their skin too. I wish more people would go after these lazy "journalists" who do little more than spew baseless sensationalism to bolster their readership.
